| The general idea of this painting has been already explained in the first version of the Advance of the Dunes which had an accident and was restored. Here the lady, still called Nature, has grown a character. Her lovely eyes are thoughtful, her gaze is turned inwards as if she remembers how beautiful the world was not long ago. |
